Bariatric surgery: results in obesity and effects on metabolic parameters

There is a vast literature on bariatric surgery with over 10 000 publications, with more than 1000 in 2010 alone, of which 200 deal with metabolic changes. This review will be very selective and focus predominantly on type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
