The prevalence of coronary artery disease (CAD) in Europe is estimated to range between 20,000 and 40,000 persons per million suffering from angina. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the number one cause of death in the Western world. Each year 4.3 million people die as a result of CVD. Cardiovascular mortality in women or men is accountable for 22 or 21% of all deaths.
